Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly executed. Patriots: C+.

The Rivaldo Fairweather selection is the head-turner. The Patriots reached 197 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.

The Frazier value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Hit on Will Campbell and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick38 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
The board had cheaper options than TreVeyon Henderson at the 38th pick, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick69 Rnd3 Kyle Williams
A wild overpay on Kyle Williams in the 69th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick77 Rnd3 Princely Umanmielen
Princely Umanmielen in pick No. 77 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick106 Rnd4 Kitan Crawford
A big swing on Kitan Crawford at Round 4, Pick 4, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick171 Rnd5 Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier at pick 171 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick179 Rnd6 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in pick 179 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick192 Rnd6 Cooper Mays
Cooper Mays in the 192nd pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick220 Rnd7 Rivaldo Fairweather
Rivaldo Fairweather in Round 7, Pick 4 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick238 Rnd7 Ricky White III
Ricky White III slid further than he should have, and the 238th overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
