HoldynMaGroyn DRAFTING FOR THECowboys
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
B-
ValueC

TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Cowboys. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cowboys reached some 97 spots for Tommy Akingbesote, and value like that does not grow back.
Burke falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Tyler Booker
They reached a country mile for Tyler Booker at the Round 1 slot, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick44
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on JT Tuimoloau. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick76
Rnd3
Shavon Revel Jr.
They will replay Shavon Revel Jr. at No. 76 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue at the 149th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick174
Rnd5
Denzel Burke
You do not let a cornerback like Denzel Burke reach pick 174 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick204
Rnd6
Ajani Cornelius
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 28 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick211
Rnd6
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at Round 6, Pick 35 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick217
Rnd7
Jay Toia
They let Jay Toia come to them and pounced at pick No. 217. The roster fit checks out.
Pick239
Rnd7
Phil Mafah
A tidy bit of business in the Round 7 slot, where Phil Mafah graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick247
Rnd7
Tommy Akingbesote
Tommy Akingbesote at No. 247 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
