Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D-
ValueB+ NeedC TradesF FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Browns for Mincey: D-.

Somebody in pick No. 248 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Browns sat still while Zavier Mincey, the No. 159 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Robinson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

The Browns paired the rookies with proven help, Will Anderson Jr. leading the way.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Leonard Moore
In the 6th overall pick they get a sticky cover corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick26 Rnd1 Carter Smith
In pick No. 26 they get a blindside protector, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick39 Rnd2 Cam Coleman
Cam Coleman in No. 39 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Not a spot anyone had flagged, which makes it a head-scratcher.
Pick55 Rnd2 Teitum Tuioti
Teitum Tuioti is a better player than Round 2, Pick 23 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick70 Rnd3 A'Mauri Washington
A'Mauri Washington at the 70th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick87 Rnd3 KJ Duff
You do not let a wide receiver like KJ Duff reach slot 87 and blink. They did not. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
Pick88 Rnd3 Nate Frazier
Steal is underselling it; Nate Frazier at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick91 Rnd3 Kade Pieper
Kade Pieper in pick 91 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick99 Rnd3 Terrance Carter Jr.
No edge and no loss on Terrance Carter Jr. in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was not a hole anyone had circled.
Pick100 Rnd3 Luke Montgomery
Luke Montgomery at No. 100 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick104 Rnd4 Faletau Satuala
A safety of that caliber at slot 104 is the definition of value, full stop. Need-wise, a curious use of the pick.
Pick106 Rnd4 Bear Alexander
Bear Alexander in the 106th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick107 Rnd4 Jelani McDonald
Somehow Jelani McDonald was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 7, and they pounced on premier safety value. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
Pick123 Rnd4 Evan Tengesdahl
They barely believed it either: Evan Tengesdahl still on the board at pick No. 123. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick133 Rnd4 Taylor Wein
By-the-book stuff, Taylor Wein at the 133rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick139 Rnd5 Mateen Ibirogba
Mateen Ibirogba in pick 139 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick144 Rnd5 Braylon Staley
Taking Braylon Staley in pick 144 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
Pick147 Rnd5 Drake Lindsey
A quiet steal in the Round 5 slot: Drake Lindsey for less than the market said. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick154 Rnd5 A.J. Harris
The board fumbled A.J. Harris all the way to slot 154, and they scooped it up. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
Pick165 Rnd5 Elijah Paige
Elijah Paige slipping to the 165th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick185 Rnd6 Ty Benefield
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Ty Benefield in No. 185, plain and simple. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
Pick186 Rnd6 CJ Bailey
They robbed the room for CJ Bailey here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick196 Rnd6 Braelin Moore
They will replay Braelin Moore at the 196th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick202 Rnd6 Niki Prongos
Fair-plus on Niki Prongos, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick204 Rnd6 Christian Alliegro
They took Christian Alliegro at par in Round 6, Pick 25, which is nothing to complain about. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Pick210 Rnd6 Quay'sheed Scott
Quay'sheed Scott in pick 210 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster logic is harder to follow.
Pick217 Rnd7 Jaden Platt
Jaden Platt at the 217th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
Pick222 Rnd7 Stephiylan Green
A straight-up fair deal on Stephiylan Green at No. 222, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick223 Rnd7 Cole Sullivan
No drama and no debate, Cole Sullivan went about where he belonged in pick No. 223. The roster logic is harder to follow.
Pick227 Rnd7 Xavier Chaplin
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Chaplin. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick230 Rnd7 Addison Nichols
They paid sticker price for Addison Nichols in the Round 7 slot, and that is fine. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick233 Rnd7 DeAndre Moore Jr.
Circle this one: DeAndre Moore Jr. at the 233rd pick is a fall that decides a draft. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
Pick242 Rnd7 Antonio Kite
A slide stopped in the 242nd overall pick, with Antonio Kite worth more than the price. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Pick243 Rnd7 D'Antre Robinson
A reach on D'Antre Robinson in slot 243; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick244 Rnd7 Noah Carter
Noah Carter at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick245 Rnd7 Desmond Umeozulu
Desmond Umeozulu at No. 245 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick248 Rnd7 Zavier Mincey
Zavier Mincey in Round 7, Pick 32 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
Pick253 Rnd7 Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart in pick No. 253 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Need-wise, a curious use of the pick.
