The Browns bled value on every deal, hence the D. The Browns put a flag in the ground for Demon Clowney, 304 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Catalon pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
