Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesB+ FutureA
Larceny in pick No. 231 lands the Browns a B+, Speights and all.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Browns did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most.

Speights at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick55 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
They took Kingsley Suamataia at par in No. 55, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick138 Rnd5 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at the Round 5 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick164 Rnd5 Malik Washington
Malik Washington at the 164th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick204 Rnd6 Joshua Gray
A tidy little value on Joshua Gray in Round 6, Pick 29, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick210 Rnd6 Jawhar Jordan
They let Jawhar Jordan come to them and pounced at pick 210. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick231 Rnd7 Omar Speights
Omar Speights at slot 231 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
