Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureC-
The Browns let Allar fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Drew Allar at slot 181 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

The Womack reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Rueben Bain Jr.
In pick No. 2 they get a premier pass rusher. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick21 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In the 21st pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick38 Rnd2 Xavier Chaplin
They talked themselves into Xavier Chaplin at the 38th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick69 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
Nothing to complain about; Malik Muhammad went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick86 Rnd3 Kamari Ramsey
Kamari Ramsey in slot 86 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick104 Rnd4 Justice Haynes
A clean, defensible pick in pick 104 with a little surplus value in Justice Haynes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick124 Rnd4 Austin Romaine
They paid a round early for Austin Romaine in Round 4, Pick 24, more than the board wanted. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick144 Rnd5 Vincent Anthony Jr.
They reached into another round for Vincent Anthony Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick148 Rnd5 David Oke
A reach for David Oke in the 148th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick149 Rnd5 Iapani Laloulu
Iapani Laloulu in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick181 Rnd6 Drew Allar
Somehow Drew Allar was still sitting there in pick 181, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick238 Rnd7 Da'Shawn Womack
Da'Shawn Womack at the 238th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick240 Rnd7 Trebor Pena
They will replay Trebor Pena at No. 240 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick241 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 241 is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick243 Rnd7 Bear Alexander
Bear Alexander in slot 243 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
