FutureB
The Browns bet the future on Milroe. The board says A-. Start where it matters. The Browns took Jalen Milroe to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That is a quarterback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
The Browns clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Jalen Milroe
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get the face of the franchise. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau at pick No. 33 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick55
Rnd2
Carson Beck
Steal is underselling it; Carson Beck at slot 55 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick68
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the 68th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick86
Rnd3
Aireontae Ersery
They read the board right and Aireontae Ersery was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick104
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis in pick 104 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick176
Rnd6
Brennan Presley
Fair-plus on Brennan Presley, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick188
Rnd6
Tyler Baron
Tyler Baron in the 188th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick203
Rnd6
PJ Williams
No edge and no loss on PJ Williams in slot 203; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick207
Rnd6
J.C. Davis
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.C. Davis. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick252
Rnd7
Germie Bernard
Circle this one: Germie Bernard at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick253
Rnd7
Stone Handy
They paid sticker price for Stone Handy in the 253rd overall pick, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
