Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueC NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the 49ers, and a B- to prove it.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The 49ers took Bhayshul Tuten a full 115 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

However the rest shakes out, Powell-Ryland at that price is a win they earned. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Bhayshul Tuten
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bhayshul Tuten. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jalen Royals
The board had Jalen Royals higher than the 75th overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick100 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Steal is underselling it; Ozzy Trapilo at Round 3, Pick 36 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick113 Rnd4 Ashton Gillotte
Value with a capital V on Ashton Gillotte in slot 113, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick138 Rnd4 Kurtis Rourke
No edge and no loss on Kurtis Rourke in No. 138; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick147 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
Somehow Cobee Bryant was still sitting there in the 147th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick160 Rnd5 Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson at No. 160 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick227 Rnd7 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A edge rusher of that caliber at the 227th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick249 Rnd7 CJ West
CJ West in pick 249 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick252 Rnd7 Jaylen Reed
Circle this one: Jaylen Reed at Round 7, Pick 36 is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
