Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
Grand theft in slot 177: the Browns steal Skattebo and grade out a C-.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Cam Skattebo, the No. 110 name on the board, stolen at the 177th pick.

They will need Toia to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Jalon Walker
In the 25th pick they get a green-dot type in the middle. More want than need.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams at slot 38 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick58 Rnd2 Trey Amos
They took Trey Amos at par in pick No. 58, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick67 Rnd3 Quinn Ewers
Quinn Ewers at the Round 3 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick94 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
A safety of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 30 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick102 Rnd4 Tai Felton
Tai Felton in pick 102 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick159 Rnd5 Mason Taylor
The board fumbled Mason Taylor all the way to No. 159, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Pick163 Rnd5 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. in the 163rd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick177 Rnd6 Cam Skattebo
Somehow Cam Skattebo was still sitting there in slot 177, and they pounced on premier running back value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick190 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick198 Rnd6 Jordan Hancock
Nice patience on Jordan Hancock, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 23. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick214 Rnd6 Jaylin Smith
Jaylin Smith at pick 214 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick215 Rnd6 Quincy Riley
A straight-up fair deal on Quincy Riley at pick No. 215, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick256 Rnd7 Jay Toia
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jay Toia. The roster fit checks out.
