Draft Grade — Browns

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Browns: B. Thirty-one other rooms let Kevin Coleman Jr. slide, and the Browns were the ones holding the card at the Round 6 slot. Highway robbery. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The cost of the Campbell reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In slot 5 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick26
Rnd1
Spencer Fano
In pick No. 26 they get a building block for the line at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick40
Rnd2
Ty Simpson
Taking Ty Simpson in No. 40 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick71
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad at the Round 3 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick106
Rnd4
Demond Claiborne
Demond Claiborne at slot 106 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick143
Rnd5
DJ Campbell
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for DJ Campbell. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick145
Rnd5
David Oke
A premium they did not need to pay, David Oke a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jacob Rodriguez
The board had cheaper options than Jacob Rodriguez at the 149th pick, and it noticed. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick210
Rnd6
Kevin Coleman Jr.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 210 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick243
Rnd7
Trebor Pena
Somehow Trebor Pena was still sitting there in the 243rd overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
