Best value of the weekend goes to the Browns for Chambliss: B. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Trinidad Chambliss, the 210th pick, roughly 28 picks past where he belonged. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Sturdivant has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Francis Mauigoa
By-the-book stuff, Francis Mauigoa at the Round 1 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick26
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In the 26th overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick40
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Caleb Banks at No. 40. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick71
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
They read the board right and Malik Muhammad was the payoff at pick 71. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick106
Rnd4
Zakee Wheatley
Somehow Zakee Wheatley was still sitting there in slot 106, and they pounced on premier safety value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick143
Rnd5
J.C. Davis
J.C. Davis at Round 5, Pick 3 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick145
Rnd5
Logan Jones
No edge and no loss on Logan Jones in pick No. 145; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jyaire Hill
Jyaire Hill at the 149th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick210
Rnd6
Trinidad Chambliss
Steal is underselling it; Trinidad Chambliss at pick No. 210 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick243
Rnd7
J. Michael Sturdivant
They talked themselves into J. Michael Sturdivant at pick 243, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
