Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Browns turned the phones into found money: A-.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Browns spent slot 210 on Demon Clowney, a name the board had a full 195 spots lower. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Browns indulged a want in Perkins Jr. while a need in cornerback and tight end stayed open. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

However the rest shakes out, Haynes at that price is a win they earned.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Carnell Tate and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
In slot 10 they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick22 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
Jordyn Tyson at the Round 1 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick28 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In pick No. 28 they get a true top target, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Arvell Reese
They liked Arvell Reese enough to skip the value, taking him in the 36th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick40 Rnd2 Caleb Lomu
Caleb Lomu at the 40th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick53 Rnd2 Ty Simpson
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 21, with Ty Simpson worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick62 Rnd2 Domonique Orange
This one needs a full-page explanation: Domonique Orange in slot 62, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick63 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman in the 63rd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick84 Rnd3 Charles Jagusah
Charles Jagusah in pick No. 84 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick93 Rnd3 Harold Perkins Jr.
A curious use of the 93rd overall pick. Cornerback and tight end needed the pick; a linebacker in Harold Perkins Jr. did not.
Pick141 Rnd5 Justice Haynes
Justice Haynes at No. 141 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick144 Rnd5 Connor Tollison
Connor Tollison at pick 144 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick184 Rnd6 Dominic Zvada
Value said wait; Dominic Zvada in Round 6, Pick 1 says they were not listening. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick210 Rnd6 Demon Clowney
Demon Clowney at the Round 6 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick240 Rnd7 Keaten Wade
A wild overpay on Keaten Wade in pick 240, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
