Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueA NeedB TradesF FutureA-
The Browns let Mondon Jr. fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

The Browns did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Smael Mondon Jr. fell into pick 217. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
A clean, defensible pick in the 8th pick with a little surplus value in Abdul Carter. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick33 Rnd2 Mason Graham
Mason Graham at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick65 Rnd3 Emeka Egbuka
You do not let a wide receiver like Emeka Egbuka reach No. 65 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick67 Rnd3 Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum in slot 67 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick94 Rnd3 Quinn Ewers
A straight-up fair deal on Quinn Ewers at pick 94, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103 Rnd4 Jalon Walker
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jalon Walker in Round 4, Pick 2, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick110 Rnd4 Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins in the 110th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Pick164 Rnd5 Barrett Carter
The board fumbled Barrett Carter all the way to pick No. 164, and they scooped it up. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick165 Rnd5 Sebastian Castro
They robbed the room for Sebastian Castro here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick181 Rnd6 Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray at the 181st pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick194 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jack Kiser
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jack Kiser at the 216th overall pick. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick217 Rnd7 Smael Mondon Jr.
They barely believed it either: Smael Mondon Jr. still on the board at Round 7, Pick 1. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick237 Rnd7 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in pick No. 237 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick248 Rnd7 Logan Parr
Logan Parr in pick 248 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
