Bossdog73 DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns

Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B-
ValueC
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Browns checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Browns started one anyway for Sam Huard, 67 picks ahead of schedule. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Makai Lemon
In the 6th pick they get a No. 1 receiver, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24
Rnd1
Caleb Lomu
In No. 24 they get a blindside protector, though they paid up to get him.
Pick39
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emmanuel Pregnon. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick70
Rnd3
Zachariah Branch
They reached into another round for Zachariah Branch, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick107
Rnd4
Eric Rivers
Value said wait; Eric Rivers in the 107th overall pick says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick139
Rnd5
DJ Campbell
They left a pile of value on the table to take DJ Campbell this early at the Round 5 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Pick144
Rnd5
Kobe Baynes
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kobe Baynes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick147
Rnd5
Red Murdock
They talked themselves into Red Murdock at slot 147, and the board did not agree. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick204
Rnd6
PJ Williams
PJ Williams in Round 6, Pick 25 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick248
Rnd7
Sam Huard
A big swing on Sam Huard at pick 248, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
