Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Browns let McCoy fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Somebody in No. 204 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Browns sat still while Jermod McCoy, the No. 9 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Francis Mauigoa
In the 6th pick they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick24 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In slot 24 they get a go-to option on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 Caleb Lomu
A tidy little value on Caleb Lomu in pick 39, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
Pick70 Rnd3 Olaivavega Ioane
Olaivavega Ioane in No. 70 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick107 Rnd4 Gennings Dunker
Steal is underselling it; Gennings Dunker at the 107th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick139 Rnd5 David Bailey
David Bailey at Round 5, Pick 1 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick144 Rnd5 Jordyn Tyson
Jordyn Tyson at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick147 Rnd5 Connor Lew
They will replay Connor Lew at pick No. 147 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jermod McCoy
You do not let a cornerback like Jermod McCoy reach the 204th pick and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick248 Rnd7 Genesis Smith
Taking Genesis Smith in slot 248 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
