Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Broncos cashed the board's mistake on Pierce: B.

The Broncos spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Hollin Pierce, the No. 118 name on the board, in the Round 5 slot.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with linebacker the one that mattered most. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
A clean, defensible pick in the 20th pick with a little surplus value in Tyler Warren. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick52 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
They took TreVeyon Henderson at par in pick 52, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick92 Rnd3 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson at the 92nd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick121 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kevin Winston Jr. at Round 4, Pick 20 is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick122 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Nice patience on Cam Skattebo, who had no business lasting to slot 122. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick146 Rnd5 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. in pick No. 146 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick157 Rnd5 LeQuint Allen
Quietly one of the better values of the day, LeQuint Allen at the Round 5 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick163 Rnd5 Hollin Pierce
You do not let an offensive lineman like Hollin Pierce reach No. 163 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick193 Rnd6 Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley at pick 193 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick199 Rnd6 Bhayshul Tuten
Somehow Bhayshul Tuten was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick210 Rnd6 Ricky White III
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ricky White III in the 210th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick231 Rnd7 CJ West
CJ West slipping to slot 231 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
