Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Broncos won the night they stopped Barton from sliding. Grade: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Lander Barton at pick 192 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. No fireworks, but a solid B.

They are betting Hemingway proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Luther Burden III. The roster fit checks out.
Pick53 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
A clean, defensible pick in pick 53 with a little surplus value in Tyler Warren. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick84 Rnd3 Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson in pick No. 84 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick122 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
Steal is underselling it; Malachi Moore at Round 4, Pick 21 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick192 Rnd6 Lander Barton
Lander Barton at the 192nd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick197 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
They took Bryce Foster at par in the 197th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick206 Rnd6 Tonka Hemingway
They reached into another round for Tonka Hemingway, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
