A franchise passer in Penix Jr. headlines a F weekend for the Broncos.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Broncos reached some 35 spots for Steele Chambers, and value like that does not grow back.

The whole projection now runs through Michael Penix Jr.; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The Lovett value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
