CJBESSER DRAFTING FOR THEBroncos
Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Broncos left with their quarterback, and a B to match. The search is over. The Broncos handed the keys to Michael Penix Jr., and the whole operation now runs on his development. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That Suamataia pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Bell pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Tight end is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Michael Penix Jr.
In pick No. 12 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick76
Rnd3
Kingsley Suamataia
Steal is underselling it; Kingsley Suamataia at slot 76 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick113
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Nice patience on Khyree Jackson, who had no business lasting to Round 4, Pick 13. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick122
Rnd4
Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
