FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Broncos a B. Every other box got a look, but linebacker did not. The Broncos will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They are betting Elzinga proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Mickens value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren slid further than he should have, and the 22nd overall pick is lovely value for the tight end. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick51
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
They paid sticker price for TreVeyon Henderson in Round 2, Pick 19, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick85
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba in the 85th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick86
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at pick No. 86 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick122
Rnd4
Jaylin Lane
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylin Lane at No. 122, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish at pick 125 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick160
Rnd5
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
Antwaun Powell-Ryland in slot 160 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick191
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Fair-plus on Dont'e Thornton Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick197
Rnd6
Jarquez Hunter
Jarquez Hunter in No. 197 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick208
Rnd6
Luke Elzinga
Luke Elzinga at slot 208 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick227
Rnd7
R.J. Mickens
They read the board right and R.J. Mickens was the payoff at Round 7, Pick 11. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
