Draft Grade — Broncos

FutureB
The Broncos let Allen fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Somebody in pick No. 191 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Broncos sat still while LeQuint Allen, the No. 134 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The McLaughlin pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
In slot 20 they get a true top target. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick51
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks at Round 2, Pick 19 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick105
Rnd4
Jared Ivey
Jared Ivey in the 105th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick122
Rnd4
Mason Taylor
Somehow Mason Taylor was still sitting there in pick 122, and they pounced on premier tight end value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick191
Rnd6
LeQuint Allen
Steal is underselling it; LeQuint Allen at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick197
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
Taking JJ Pegues in No. 197 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick208
Rnd6
Seth McLaughlin
A wild overpay on Seth McLaughlin in pick No. 208, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
