Nobody else had Payton Thorne anywhere near the Round 6 slot. The Broncos did, by 269 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

That Gabriel pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The phones were where this weekend was really won.

The Broncos clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.
