The Broncos drew a line under the quarterback search with Daniels: D. The phones were a trap the Broncos kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
On the needs board they went 8 of 8, with linebacker the one that mattered most.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jayden Daniels. The roster fit checks out.
Pick54
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell slid further than he should have, and pick 54 is lovely value for the edge rusher. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick68
Rnd3
Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia is a better player than pick No. 68 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick76
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 76 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick122
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis in the 122nd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick136
Rnd4
Josh Newton
Josh Newton in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick144
Rnd5
Beau Brade
Beau Brade in the 144th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick157
Rnd5
Dylan Laube
Fair-plus on Dylan Laube, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick187
Rnd6
Ty'Ron Hopper
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ty'Ron Hopper at Round 6, Pick 12. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick237
Rnd7
Trey Knox
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Knox at pick 237, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
