FutureB-
The Broncos answered their biggest question with Nix. Grade: D-. The Broncos spent real capital to be 141 picks early on Austin Stogner, and the board is going to hold them to it. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.
Bo Nix gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
They will answer for taking safety early while interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots went begging. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Gray.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In slot 12 they get the face of the franchise, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Troy Franklin
The board had Troy Franklin higher than the 41st overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
Pick76
Rnd3
Kamren Kinchens
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kamren Kinchens at the Round 3 slot is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick121
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots to take Cole Bishop, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick136
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
Taking Cedric Gray in pick No. 136 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick145
Rnd5
Isaiah Adams
They did well to land Isaiah Adams in Round 5, Pick 9, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick147
Rnd5
Sione Vaki
They went early on Sione Vaki in the Round 5 slot, and the value did not follow. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick203
Rnd6
Julian Pearl
No drama and no debate, Julian Pearl went about where he belonged in slot 203. The roster fit checks out.
Pick207
Rnd6
Austin Stogner
This one needs a full-page explanation: Austin Stogner in No. 207, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
