Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA
A passer of the future in Nix, and a D, for the Broncos.

The phones were a trap the Broncos kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

Everything downstream of Bo Nix depends on Bo Nix, and the building knows it. They will answer for taking cornerback early while tight end went begging. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.

If Taylor pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Ali.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan slid further than he should have, and pick No. 36 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick76 Rnd3 Gabriel Murphy
Gabriel Murphy at Round 3, Pick 12 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick103 Rnd4 Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
No drama and no debate, Jarvis Brownlee Jr. went about where he belonged in the 103rd overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick114 Rnd4 Beau Brade
Beau Brade in the 114th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick122 Rnd4 Kris Abrams-Draine
A curious use of No. 122. Tight end needed the pick; a cornerback in Kris Abrams-Draine did not.
Pick146 Rnd5 Cedric Gray
A slide stopped in slot 146, with Cedric Gray worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick155 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Luke McCaffrey at pick 155 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
Pick181 Rnd6 Jordan Jefferson
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Jefferson at No. 181, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick230 Rnd7 Rasheen Ali
A running back of that caliber at slot 230 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick237 Rnd7 Trey Taylor
Trey Taylor at the Round 7 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick239 Rnd7 Hunter Nourzad
A premium they did not need to pay, Hunter Nourzad a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
