Barron should have been long gone. The Saints pounced, and earned a B.

Somebody in the 40th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Saints sat still while Jahdae Barron, the No. 14 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They will need Shough to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Nothing to complain about; Donovan Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

Cam Skattebo in pick 93 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.

They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jaylin Noel in Round 4, Pick 10. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

They jumped the gun on Tyler Shough, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
