Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureF
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Browns a B-.

The tape said wait; the Browns did not. Connor Tollison went at pick 204, a good 39 picks before the board was ready. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will answer for taking linebacker early while cornerback, safety and other spots went begging. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In the 6th pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick24 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In pick 24 they get a three-down second-level presence. More want than need.
Pick39 Rnd2 Zion Young
No drama and no debate, Zion Young went about where he belonged in No. 39. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick70 Rnd3 Josiah Trotter
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 3, Pick 6 on Josiah Trotter with cornerback, safety and other spots unsolved.
Pick107 Rnd4 Chris McClellan
Value said wait; Chris McClellan in the 107th overall pick says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick139 Rnd5 Kevin Coleman Jr.
A reach for Kevin Coleman Jr. in pick No. 139; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick144 Rnd5 Drew Allar
A straight-up fair deal on Drew Allar at pick 144, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick147 Rnd5 Keagen Trost
A reach on Keagen Trost in slot 147; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick204 Rnd6 Connor Tollison
A wild overpay on Connor Tollison in Round 6, Pick 25, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
Pick248 Rnd7 Brett Norfleet
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brett Norfleet well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
