Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Cardinals a B.

Everything else got attention, and wide receiver got none. That is a strange way for the Cardinals to leave a draft.

They banked enough surplus on Ponds to cover a lot of smaller sins. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it. The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Francis Mauigoa
In the 3rd overall pick they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
No edge and no loss on Dillon Thieneman in pick No. 34; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick65 Rnd3 D'Angelo Ponds
A slide stopped in the 65th pick, with D'Angelo Ponds worth more than the price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick116 Rnd4 Parker Brailsford
A straight-up fair deal on Parker Brailsford at pick 116, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick141 Rnd5 Dametrious Crownover
A clean, defensible pick in slot 141 with a little surplus value in Dametrious Crownover. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick152 Rnd5 Drew Allar
Nice patience on Drew Allar, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 14. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick181 Rnd6 Zane Durant
Good price on Zane Durant in No. 181, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick217 Rnd7 Jadon Canady
Value with a capital V on Jadon Canady in the Round 7 slot, a genuine coup. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
