Overall B+
ValueB NeedA- TradesA+ FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Panthers this weekend: B+.

The real work happened on the phones. The Panthers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Hill Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Makai Lemon
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick51 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
They read the board right and Anthony Hill Jr. was the payoff at the 51st overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick119 Rnd4 Will Lee III
Will Lee III slid further than he should have, and slot 119 is lovely value for the cornerback. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick156 Rnd5 Jalen Stroman
Nice patience on Jalen Stroman, who had no business lasting to pick 156. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick157 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
Beau Stephens is a better player than pick No. 157 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick198 Rnd6 Pat Coogan
A tidy little value on Pat Coogan in Round 6, Pick 19, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick235 Rnd7 Trebor Pena
Trebor Pena in No. 235 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
