Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureB-
The Seahawks robbed the room for Gould. Final grade: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Anthony Gould got past him. The Seahawks do not have to explain a thing at pick 235. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Cooper pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick36 Rnd2 Michael Penix Jr.
You do not let a quarterback like Michael Penix Jr. reach the Round 2 slot and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick40 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
The board had cheaper options than Edgerrin Cooper at Round 2, Pick 8, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick81 Rnd3 Devontez Walker
Devontez Walker slid further than he should have, and No. 81 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick118 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams in the 118th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick139 Rnd5 Matt Goncalves
They barely believed it either: Matt Goncalves still on the board at pick 139. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick179 Rnd6 Mason McCormick
Taking Mason McCormick in pick No. 179 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick192 Rnd6 Fabien Lovett
Fabien Lovett slipping to the 192nd overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick235 Rnd7 Anthony Gould
Anthony Gould at slot 235 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
