Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Brian Thomas Jr., the No. 26 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 88.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Every board in the league had Ali lower, and that gap is the story.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
