Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Seahawks robbed the room for Jones. Final grade: B+.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Seahawks were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

Jones at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Seahawks paired the rookies with proven help, David Long Jr. leading the way.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
Olumuyiwa Fashanu is a better player than pick No. 21 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick55 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
Nice patience on Tyler Nubin, who had no business lasting to slot 55. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick81 Rnd3 Marshawn Kneeland
They took Marshawn Kneeland at par in the 81st pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick102 Rnd4 Javon Baker
They read the board right and Javon Baker was the payoff at the 102nd overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick140 Rnd5 Elijah Jones
Circle this one: Elijah Jones at pick 140 is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick179 Rnd6 Grayson Murphy
Grayson Murphy at the Round 6 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick192 Rnd6 Tip Reiman
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tip Reiman at the Round 6 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick225 Rnd7 JD Bertrand
JD Bertrand at No. 225 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick235 Rnd7 Andrew Raym
Andrew Raym in slot 235 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
