Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Chargers checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

Every other box got a look, but edge rusher did not. The Chargers will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

However the rest shakes out, Lee III at that price is a win they earned. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In No. 22 they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Caleb Banks at the 55th pick is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick91 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley at the Round 3 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick123 Rnd4 Joe Royer
The board had Joe Royer higher than slot 123, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick126 Rnd4 Will Lee III
Will Lee III slid further than he should have, and pick No. 126 is lovely value for the cornerback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick202 Rnd6 Oscar Delp
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Oscar Delp in the 202nd overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick228 Rnd7 Kaden Wetjen
Kaden Wetjen at Round 7, Pick 12 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
