Chicity DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bears let Sanders fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. Somebody in pick 228 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bears sat still while Raheim Sanders, the No. 140 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The Jackson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Mason Graham
Mason Graham in pick 12 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick40
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
A tight end of that caliber at the 40th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick43
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jake Majors
Jake Majors slipping to Round 3, Pick 10 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick150
Rnd5
Donovan Jackson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Donovan Jackson. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick203
Rnd6
Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. at slot 203 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick228
Rnd7
Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at No. 228 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick244
Rnd7
Hunter Wohler
Hunter Wohler in the 244th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
