There is a lot to like until you notice running back is still a hole. The Cowboys never got to the one that mattered most. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Thompson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
