Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueC NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Bears turned the phones into found money: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Donovan Edwards had no business being available in slot 235, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Walley has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick39 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in pick No. 39 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick41 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
A real head-scratcher, Tate Ratledge in pick 41 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick72 Rnd3 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins at slot 72 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick76 Rnd3 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at pick No. 76 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick150 Rnd5 Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson in the 150th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick197 Rnd6 Hayden Conner
They paid up for Hayden Conner at Round 6, Pick 19 when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick235 Rnd7 Donovan Edwards
They barely believed it either: Donovan Edwards still on the board at No. 235. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick242 Rnd7 Jordan Hancock
Somehow Jordan Hancock was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick249 Rnd7 Justin Walley
Justin Walley at pick 249 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
