FutureF
The Cowboys went off-script early, and it cost them a F. The tape said wait; the Cowboys did not. Edefuan Ulofoshio went at No. 87, a good 149 picks before the board was ready. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Morgan value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with quarterback still staring back at them.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Joe Alt
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick13
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
Dallas Turner in pick No. 13 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick24
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In No. 24 they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick25
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
No edge and no loss on Brian Thomas Jr. in the 25th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick44
Rnd2
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the Round 2 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick56
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
They will replay Jordan Morgan at slot 56 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick77
Rnd3
Ty'Ron Hopper
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ty'Ron Hopper this early at pick 77. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick87
Rnd3
Edefuan Ulofoshio
Value said wait; Edefuan Ulofoshio in slot 87 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at Round 5, Pick 38 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick216
Rnd6
Jawhar Jordan
Jawhar Jordan in pick No. 216 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick233
Rnd7
Jalen Sundell
They jumped the gun on Jalen Sundell, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick244
Rnd7
Emani Bailey
This one needs a full-page explanation: Emani Bailey in No. 244, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
