Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bills did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

Of all the ways to open, the Bills chose the head-scratcher, spending No. 132 on Denzel Burke with linebacker, offensive lineman and other spots still wide open. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Burke. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Reed reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
They read the board right and Jahdae Barron was the payoff at Round 1, Pick 23. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick56 Rnd2 Tre Harris
By-the-book stuff, Tre Harris at slot 56 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick62 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at pick 62 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick132 Rnd4 Denzel Burke
A curious use of No. 132. Linebacker, offensive lineman and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Denzel Burke did not.
Pick169 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten is a better player than pick No. 169 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick177 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed in the 177th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick206 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
No drama and no debate, Nazir Stackhouse went about where he belonged in the 206th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
