Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers let Baker fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Javon Baker, the No. 186 name on the board, sitting there at Round 6, Pick 34 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Keegan has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
They took Chop Robinson at par in slot 31, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick63 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick94 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter in the 94th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick98 Rnd3 Blake Fisher
They paid sticker price for Blake Fisher in No. 98, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick125 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
They barely believed it either: Jaden Hicks still on the board at pick No. 125. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick132 Rnd4 Jarrian Jones
A tidy bit of business in pick 132, where Jarrian Jones graded well above the range. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick176 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylan Ford at the 176th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick209 Rnd6 Javon Baker
Javon Baker at Round 6, Pick 34 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick214 Rnd6 Christian Jones
Christian Jones in pick No. 214 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick215 Rnd6 Jawhar Jordan
Jawhar Jordan in the 215th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick249 Rnd7 Trevor Keegan
A reach on Trevor Keegan in No. 249; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
