The Sherman reach set a tone the Seahawks could not shake: F.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Seahawks spent the 236th overall pick on MJ Sherman, a name the board had a full 45 spots lower. Little went right, and the F does not pretend otherwise.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The Seahawks indulged a want in Smith while a need in edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots stayed open. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Nix.

There is no spinning it; the board won this weekend going away.
