Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Nix is the Commanders' new face under center. Grade: A-.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Bo Nix is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Roberts.

A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. If Cohen pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

In the end it comes back to Bo Nix, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In Round 1, Pick 14 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick42 Rnd2 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jeremiah Trotter Jr.. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick66 Rnd3 Kris Jenkins
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kris Jenkins at the Round 3 slot is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick78 Rnd3 Rod Moore
Rod Moore in pick No. 78 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick100 Rnd3 Luke Lachey
A straight-up fair deal on Luke Lachey at the 100th pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick102 Rnd4 Cam Hart
They paid sticker price for Cam Hart in slot 102, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick125 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
They liked Beaux Limmer enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 125. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick139 Rnd5 Javion Cohen
Javion Cohen at pick 139 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick173 Rnd5 Tre Harris
Good price on Tre Harris in pick 173, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick180 Rnd6 Cody Schrader
Cody Schrader in slot 180 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick223 Rnd7 Willie Roberts
The board had Willie Roberts higher than pick No. 223, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
