Draft Grade — Giants
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Giants cashed the board's mistake on Gadsden II: A-.

Somebody in pick 246 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Giants sat still while Oronde Gadsden II, the No. 193 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Adding Charvarius Ward by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Bottom line, with Josh Simmons leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Josh Simmons
In No. 14 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Jaxson Dart
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaxson Dart. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick45 Rnd2 Tre Harris
No edge and no loss on Tre Harris in pick No. 45; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick65 Rnd3 Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas in the Round 3 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick80 Rnd3 Barrett Carter
No drama and no debate, Barrett Carter went about where he belonged in slot 80. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick99 Rnd3 Shemar Turner
A tidy bit of business in the 99th overall pick, where Shemar Turner graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick105 Rnd4 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe slipping to Round 4, Pick 3 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
Pick154 Rnd5 Kobe King
Steal is underselling it; Kobe King at the 154th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick219 Rnd7 DJ Giddens
The board fumbled DJ Giddens all the way to pick No. 219, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick246 Rnd7 Oronde Gadsden II
They will replay Oronde Gadsden II at slot 246 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
