Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Packers cashed the board's mistake on McCoy: B-.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Bru McCoy got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at Round 6, Pick 42. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

The cost of the Melton reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Jordan Morgan
In pick No. 25 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin in No. 41 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick57 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
A real head-scratcher, Payton Wilson in the 57th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick88 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
By-the-book stuff, TreVeyon Henderson at pick 88 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick92 Rnd3 Max Melton
Max Melton in Round 3, Pick 29 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick125 Rnd4 Kamal Hadden
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kamal Hadden. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick135 Rnd4 Cedric Johnson
Cedric Johnson at slot 135 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick203 Rnd6 Joshua Gray
Good price on Joshua Gray in the Round 6 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick217 Rnd6 Bru McCoy
Taking Bru McCoy in the 217th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick219 Rnd6 Blake Watson
Blake Watson at Round 6, Pick 44 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick246 Rnd7 Evan Williams
Evan Williams in slot 246 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
