Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
Larceny in the 195th pick lands the Jaguars a B+, Williams and all.

The rest of the league will want that one back. James Williams tumbling to the Jaguars in the Round 6 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Rouse has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The Leighton Vander Esch deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Terrion Arnold
In No. 24 they get an island corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell slipping to pick 48 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Patrick Paul
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Patrick Paul at pick No. 56 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick79 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
The board had cheaper options than Sedrick Van Pran at Round 3, Pick 15, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick96 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter at the 96th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick114 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at the 114th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick116 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at the Round 4 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick124 Rnd4 DJ James
Nice patience on DJ James, who had no business lasting to slot 124. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick155 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
You do not let a linebacker like Tommy Eichenberg reach Round 5, Pick 19 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick195 Rnd6 James Williams
James Williams at the 195th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick212 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
By-the-book stuff, Sam Hartman at pick 212 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick237 Rnd7 Walter Rouse
Walter Rouse at No. 237 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
