The Steelers robbed the room for Simpson. Final grade: A-. The board owed the Steelers one, and it paid up: Jaylin Simpson, the No. 154 name on the board, sitting there at slot 188 like a gift left on the doorstep.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Spending an early pick on DT-EDGE with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The Steelers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
In the end it comes back to Jackson Powers-Johnson, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
