Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers robbed the room for Pearsall. Final grade: B-.

Somebody in slot 244 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Steelers sat still while Ricky Pearsall, the No. 205 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Reaching for Powers-Johnson left real value on the table behind him.

Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Edgerrin Cooper
In the 23rd overall pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, reach and all. A real need, handled.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
They talked themselves into Jackson Powers-Johnson at No. 58, and the board did not agree. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick87 Rnd3 Rod Moore
Rod Moore at pick No. 87 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick113 Rnd4 Cam Hart
They read the board right and Cam Hart was the payoff at pick 113. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick123 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Danny Stutsman at Round 4, Pick 23. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick126 Rnd4 Tykee Smith
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tykee Smith. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick201 Rnd6 Ricky White
Ricky White at slot 201 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick212 Rnd6 Willie Roberts
Willie Roberts in the Round 6 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick244 Rnd7 Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
