bobb DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall

ValueB-
NeedB+

FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Patriots: B-. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Derrick Moore in pick No. 116, a good 34 spots before the room expected him. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Fifita. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Denzel Boston
In No. 25 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick60
Rnd2
Kamari Ramsey
A clean, defensible pick in the 60th overall pick with a little surplus value in Kamari Ramsey. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick91
Rnd3
Whit Weeks
Whit Weeks in pick No. 91 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick116
Rnd4
Derrick Moore
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Derrick Moore well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick126
Rnd4
Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch is a better player than the Round 4 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick166
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner in pick 166 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick195
Rnd6
Noah Fifita
The board had Noah Fifita higher than pick 195, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
Pick208
Rnd6
Raylen Wilson
Raylen Wilson at Round 6, Pick 28 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick221
Rnd7
Quinten Joyner
Quinten Joyner slid further than he should have, and pick No. 221 is lovely value for the running back. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick244
Rnd7
Cayden Lee
Cayden Lee in slot 244 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
