Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall D
ValueF NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Falcons have some explaining to do after a D.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Falcons reached some 341 spots for Austin Stogner, and value like that does not grow back.

They banked enough surplus on Cowing to cover a lot of smaller sins. They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Austin Stogner
In the 8th overall pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick43 Rnd2 Erick All
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Erick All well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick74 Rnd3 Collin Schlee
Collin Schlee in Round 3, Pick 10 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick79 Rnd3 Devin Culp
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Devin Culp. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick110 Rnd4 Brennan Armstrong
This one needs a full-page explanation: Brennan Armstrong in slot 110, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick142 Rnd5 Josh Wallace
A big swing on Josh Wallace at the 142nd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick199 Rnd6 Jacob Cowing
You do not let a wide receiver like Jacob Cowing reach No. 199 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
