Barxton DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueA
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Seahawks let Higgins fall and pounced. Final grade: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Jay Higgins had no business being available in Round 7, Pick 18, and the Seahawks did the only sane thing and turned in the card. No fireworks, but a solid B.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks at the 18th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick50
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in the 50th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick82
Rnd3
Kaleb Johnson
They robbed the room for Kaleb Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick136
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
A running back of that caliber at No. 136 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick171
Rnd5
Barrett Carter
Barrett Carter at slot 171 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick183
Rnd6
Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger in pick No. 183 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick210
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Joshua Gray in the Round 6 slot, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick234
Rnd7
Jay Higgins
Steal is underselling it; Jay Higgins at Round 7, Pick 18 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
