It is not that Goncalves is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Smith steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

They are betting Jones proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
